Congratulations to all the High School golf teams, especially in Southern Il. "Great job". 2008 was an exciting year. We are all looking forward to the 2009 season. Fore all the high school athletics in the state of Illinois go to (IHSA).
I have gone through several moods while playing this game. Sometimes, when I am hitting the golf ball good, all I want to do is play more. On the other hand, when I am hitting the ball bad, I could care less if I ever play again. I find myself in the latter of these two examples. Yes there seems to be some physical explanation for my current funk, but quite honestly there is a small difference between shooting 90 verses shooting 70. A few fundamentals gone wrong can cause you to get in a dismal spiral. I have examined my game to death recently, but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and take a step back. Quitting is an ugly word. I like to think that I am taking a leave from the game. I still love golf and watch it continuously but I am not having any fun right now. Isn’t that what golf is supposed to be,“ fun”.
We might think we are doing everything right but usually there is some small thing that we haven’t picked up on. If you are not hitting the golf ball like you use to something has change. (Da!) Step back and evaluate your game. First look at the physical body. Do you hurt when you play? Go back to the fundamentals of the golf swing. Don’t depend on other players to critique your game. The fact is, golfers all have different swings. Make a list. What worked for you in the past? Take a few days off. Even the best golfers in the world have to take some time off now and then. I think golf is a great game, but remember, its only a game. Thanks! If you have any questions please email us @ thestartershack@hotmail.com
